UNEARTHING THE MUSIC: Sound and Creative Experimentation in Non-democratic Europe

KWI – Blue ReReverie (CSIndustrial 1982-2010)

Slavek Kwi is a sound-artist, composer and researcher interested in the phenomena of perception as the fundamental determinant of relations with reality. Born in former Czechoslovakia, he began his work as a visually-based artist, and then became increasingly interested in sound and space using natural acoustics, found sound, recorded sound and computer generated sound structures.

Blue Reverie was created between 1980 and 1983 in Prague, former Czechoslovakia. It consists of Kwi’s first sound experiments with reel-to-reel tape recorders, employing three recorders and tape cut ups glued together with transparent adhesive tape. The work displays early symptoms of obsessions with sounds of metals, slowing down recordings and effect of feedback-echo created also with tape recorder.

This version, re-released by CSIndustrial 1982-2010, is an extended and slightly re-edited (2015) version containing some previously unpublished tracks.
